Our Mission

RMI Love Animals’ mission is to uplift the health and well-being of animal and human communities in The Republic of the Marshall Islands.

The capital atoll, Majuro, has a human population of approximately 20,000. There is no permanent veterinarian here. It’s estimated that there are 6,000 dogs in Majuro. Most are hungry and many are in poor health. The many cats are not doing any better.

We support the Government and the community by delivering a humane animal population management solution – through spay and neuter surgeries – which addresses public health and safety concerns about aggressive roaming animals, and teaches compassion and the respect of all living things.

Since 2022, thousands of individually and community owned roaming dogs and cats have been microchipped, sterilized, vaccinated and treated for parasites.

Because there is no permanent vet clinic, we work in pop up M.A.S.H style tent clinics, school and church halls, outdoors in basketball courts or in private homes. Community engagement, education and capacity building are key to RMI Love Animals’ program success and are instrumental in improving animal welfare long term.

We are committed to delivering a sustainable, long term animal population management solution which is internationally recognized, based on science and which teaches compassion and the respect of all living things.
